Dharamshala – Inspired by His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s book Ethics for the New Millennium, The Dalai Lama Foundation launched a documentary film and internet project called project happiness. The essence of this project is to engage young people in a cross-cultural dialogue about the relationship of happiness to oneꏁ__ã_s values and ethics.

As a part of this project 14 high school senior students from Mount Madonna School, United States, and two from Dominion Heritage Academy, Nigeria, are presently here in India to discover the true basis of human happiness. The Tibetan and Indian students from the Tibetan Children’s Village in Dharamsala, India, led by their teacher Ms. Yeshi Khando join them on this quest.

TibetNet approached the team yesterday at TCV and spoke to Mr. Ward Mailliard, a senior teacher from Mount Madonna School. He said that from all the sessions held here, documentary will be prepared and it will be publicly broadcast in US.

“Using the internet, video cameras, and other new communications technologies, the students explore and cooperate in creating their own curriculum from His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s book Ethics for the New Millennium.

“It will also help the students to build bridges of understanding to learn about each other and themselves”, he said.

He said that with the blessings of His Holiness the Dalai Lama, his students and Nigerian students led by their principal Emmanuel Ivorgba had an opportunity of interviewing Indian President Abdul Kalam, US Ambassador for India, and Nirmal Pandey.

Tomorrow the students will have the rare privilege of a private audience with His Holiness the Dalai Lama during which they can test their theories, ask questions and immerse themselves in the world, wisdom and humor of His Holiness the Dalai Lama.
