We can’t be happy all the time…and probably shouldn’t want to be!

I’m often asked if, as Dr. Happy, I’m happy all the time; and my response is typically…of course not.

No one can experience happiness 100% of the time and nor should they want to. Happiness is wonderful, but we can also learn much from unhappiness; we can grow from unhappiness; we can become better people as a result of unhappiness.

Now this doesn’t mean we should necessarily seek out unhappiness or misery, but it does mean that we should realistically acknowledge that whether we like it or not we’ll experience some distress some times and that it’s not entirely a bad thing.
