17 Sep 3 great tips for creating happiness in your relationship
We all have happiness secrets. And before I list the three hints, I do want to acknowledge a Hollywood couple that seems to have found real happiness, Patrick Swayze and his wife Lisa Niemi. Married 33 years, they renewed their marriage vows last year. Sadly today it was announced that Patrick Swayze lost his battle with cancer.
I would like to highlight something I learned from the Mirror. UK. They reported that “Swayze first met Lisa when she was just 16 and a pupil at his mother Patsy’s ballet studio in Houston, Texas. ‘I robbed the cradle,’ joked Swayze, who was then 20. ‘But I knew she was the smartest chick I’d ever met.’
And here is the thought that I found to be so touching: “He says now: ‘I have no greater respect for any other human being on this Earth like I have for her. I am honestly not sure I was born first or married first, but I sure like it.'”. Patrick Swayze on how his marriage to Lisa is Hollywood’s strongest
Choices: Patrick made a good choice. And despite his bout with alcoholism, Lisa was there to support him. Life is about choices. We can choose happiness over sadness even during difficult times. After all isn’t that what Chicken Soup for the Soul is all about?
In love and marriage there are ups and downs — over money, over sex or lack thereof, over issues that create stress such as addictions. But in each case one has the choice to be angry and critical or loving and helpful. In terms of Swayze’s long term marriage, Mail.online.UK tells us: “I suppose it’s about keeping love alive, learning how to fall in love over and over again, not taking each other for granted, forgiveness, trust. Whatever it is, it works for us.”
Take anger for example. Anger is a choice because we can choose to turn the other cheeck and hold our tongue rather than saying a critical or unkind word.
Here are three happiness hints to try for three days.
