Do you need to change for happiness?

Do you need to change for happiness?

I'm not sure anyone really knows where it comes from but there's an old and wise saying that goes…

…If you keep on doing what you've always done, you'll keep on getting what you've always got!

Why am I mentioning this here?

Because the bottom line is that if you're not as happy as you'd like to be then in order to enjoy more happiness you will, by definition, need to change!

You'll either need to change your thinking; or your relationships; or your goals; or your expectations; or your health routine; or your job; or all of the above and maybe even more!

I recently read this wonderful metaphor that is so incredibly pertinent here…

Expecting your life to change while doing what you've always done is like walking up and down the condiments isle in the supermarket and getting angry that you can't find anything substantial to eat!

You won't find fruit and vegetables in the isle that sells chilli and salt & pepper…and nor will you find happiness in areas of your ilfe that have only ever brought frustration and distress.

So today's challenge for you is to contemplate what and where and when and how you need to change? And remember that you don't have to change everything all at once. Small changes can make big differences; and small changes can provide the motivation and momentum to then go on to bigger and better things.

So give some thought today to anything you might be able to do differently and have a shot at getting it started ASAP. Then share your thougths and hopefully, your positive experiences HERE on The Happiness Institute's Facebook page : )
