Happiness is partly about creating positives and positive experiences in life.
Happiness is also partly about enjoying and appreciating those positives already in your life.
Focusing on the latter (appreciating what you have more than worrying so much about what you don’t have) is one of the simpler but more powerful techniques for happiness and living our best lives.
Because focusing on the latter highlights how, for many of us, our lives are much better than we’d realised.

1. You have a good group of friends.
When you are surrounded by a good group of people who lift you up and bring you happiness, you’re doing a hell of a lot better than some. Friends are a vital part of life, and without them, you wouldn’t be nearly as full of life.
2. You paid your bills this month.
Paying your rent along with your water bill and everything else you’ve got to do to stay alive can become a definite challenge for some. If you figured it out this month, give yourself a pat on the back.
3. You have a place to rest your head at night.
If you have a place to go to every single night, or have a place you call home, congratulations. You are incredibly lucky.
4. You have accomplished something you never thought you would.
It doesn’t matter how small or how big this accomplishment is. You did it, and that’s something to be immensely proud of.
5. You have set goals.
If you have a direction in mind of where you want your life to be eventually, or even if you have just a small goal set for tomorrow, you’re already one step ahead of most…
