Keys to Success: Affirmations, Visualization, and Action

via Inc.com by Kelly Richardson

Thanks to the internet and recent technology, you can get almost anything at the touch of a button (or smartphone). The concept of delayed gratification has become outdated. Instead, we are living in a world of instant gratification and near-constant stimulation. For that reason, many people find themselves struggling to focus and get things done.

So, what’s the solution?

Many successful people, including Fortune 500 CEOs, top salespeople, personal development mentors, and athletes, have figured out how to focus in on their goals. Some practice and preach the process of reprogramming the subconscious mind through meditation, affirmations, visualization, breathing, and more.

As an entrepreneur, I can personally vouch for the power of affirmations and meditation. The act of repeating my goals has motivated me in my business and personal life. For those who aren’t familiar with affirmations and meditation, here’s an abridged definition of those terms:

Affirmation is the practice of positive thinking and fostering a belief by writing down statements or phrases in the present tense. It’s the process of repeating new thoughts and images to rewire the subconscious mind for success. For this technique to be effective, repeat a set of positive statements or phrases by linking them to a particular feeling.

Our subconscious mind plays a vital role in manifesting and achieving our goals, and many of our habits are controlled by our subconscious mind. So, in order to reprogram your brain for success, change your thoughts and habits.

Similarly, meditation is an approach to train the subconscious mind. It involves focusing on a single thought, object, or activity while controlling your breathing to achieve mental and emotional stability. Through meditation, you can develop laser focus that opens doors for opportunities in life.

The brain is very powerful, and thoughts that are repeated over a period of time can turn into a reality.

What is confirmation bias?

This is a cognitive bias that involves the brain searching for evidence that confirms and strengthens our existing beliefs. Constant thoughts can induce your brain to action. If you’re constantly dwelling on a negative thought, your brain will likely perceive any information, either positive or negative, as a confirmation of that negative belief and will act according to that belief.

This can play a major role in the success of an entrepreneur when harnessed in a positive direction. If someone starts a business with a strong belief that they will succeed, they will act accordingly and ultimately have a higher chance of turning those beliefs into reality.

Now you know the power of affirmations and meditation. So, how exactly can they help you to achieve greater success? You can go to great heights, overcome fears, and take risks with self-confidence, belief, and self-discipline.

When all is said and done, the key to converting those raw ideas into solid ventures involves taking action. Meditation, affirmations, and positive thinking are all factors toward success, but I’ve found that taking action is the best way to train your subconscious into doing the impossible.

Here are some simple steps to encourage you to take action…
